In Math the students recently completed an experiment with Skittles in our chance and data unit. The Students enjoyed using Skittles as a way to test chance. They had to then record and tally their data before creating a column graph. The students were very excited to eat the skittles at the end! We are currently looking at time, converting 12 hour to 24 hour time. The students are actively using the internet to look at timetables on the Adelaide Metro website and plan journeys using the information provided.
In Inquiry lessons, the students recently presented an oral presentation on their chosen topic. Students were required to choose a topic based on their interests and curiosity. They spent the first few lessons researching information. They then used the information found to create a PowerPoint with accompanying que cards. All students presented with great confidence and enthusiasm. The students all thoroughly enjoyed learning about the different topics in the class. The 5/6’s are now making a model or a product in relation to their topics.
In Art the 5/6’s have been undertaking a study on graffiti art. They have discussed the differences between vandalism and art. Students were given a number of different examples of graffiti used as art before beginning to create their own designs. They had to design 4 different ways they could use one word, before selecting one to be their final piece. They are currently finishing their final designs at the moment, and we cannot wait to see the final results!
