Important COVID-19 Update

Due to the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, the following will apply at St. Johns from the beginning of Term 3.

Physical Distancing Requirements Remain In Place

All adults must continue to follow the density and physical distancing guidelines outlined by SA Health:

· No more than 1 person per 2 square metres in an enclosed space

· Adults are to maintain a minimum social distance of 1.5 metres. We must follow the above physical distancing and room density requirements. Please ensure that you abide by this if entering a classroom or corridor at the end of the day.

 Requirements that Remain in Place

  • It is still important that students and staff stay home if they are unwell
  • Physical contact must be limited. Non-physical greetings are encouraged
  • Morning drop off at the gate. This has been a great success and the children are settling into their morning learning routines much quicker. An exemption will be for our parents/ carers of our Term 3 Reception intake children.
  • Parents must continue to physical distance, including at school pick up and drop off and particularly on the hard-court area and footpath
  •  If children travel interstate with their families, please notify the school
  • Students or family members who are considered vulnerable to COVID-19 should consult their medical practitioner when deciding to be at the school.

Resumption of Activities

We are very pleased that the following activities will resume, providing government health advice and physical distancing requirements are strictly followed:

·   Parents, volunteers and other service providers may again enter school grounds. All external visitors and volunteers must complete site access procedures on entry. Usual volunteer registration and induction must be valid. Visitors will be limited and must be pre-arranged with the class teacher.

  • Parents/ carers can enter the school grounds from 3:00pm for end of day pick up
  •  Monday Morning Community Welcome – attendance of parents/family members will be restricted to a maximum of 35. Name lists with contact details may be required.
  • Playgroup- please check the Playgroup FB page for details
  • Year 4 Camp to Mylor is planned to go ahead in week 2 (unless notified otherwise by SA Health)
  • 2021 Reception Transition visits from Friday 14th August (Week 4)
  • Saturday Soccer
  • Sporting Carnivals
  • Catholic Schools Music Festival (Year 5 and 6 students)
  • Reception Art show Monday 21st September (Time TBC)
  • Grandparent’s Day Friday 25th September

Stage 01 Build Update

How exciting does our building upgrade look? I am expecting it to be finished in mid August. There are 3 new classrooms, new student toilets, a learning common and a lift being built; with magnificent sea views! I can’t wait to take small group tours of the new facilities. There will be an official opening. Date will be dependent upon the availability of the dignitaries. Watch for details next term.

OSHC Update

I am expecting the final approval for OSHC to be operating from 18 Winnerah Road within the next 4-6 weeks. I thank our families for their patience with the many changes to before and after school care this year. I think a celebration will be in order when this beautiful facility is eventually opened!

55th Celebration Cookbook

This year is St John the Apostle’s 55th year and to commemorate this special occasion we would like to produce our very own “Cookbook”. We want our families to submit their favourite recipes via the link on the Information flyer sent home on Tuesday with your child.

Our 55th Celebration Cookbook will be available to purchase in Term 4, just in time for Christmas.

As Term 2 ends, it is satisfying to see that it has been successful and rewarding despite the challenges, because of our strong community. I thank our dedicated teachers, our beautiful students and you for your great support. Wishing you all a happy and healthy holiday!
