Dear Families,
We are again at the end of another term of school. We are concluding this term with the Catholic Schools Music Festival (CSMF). Our senior students in the Catholic Schools Music Festival Choir are performing on Friday 29th September at the Festival Theatre. It is fantastic opportunity for our students to be involved in such a significant and large event with other schools. Our students have been rehearsing all year to learn all the songs and routines. I would like to thank Lisa Martin who leads the choir at St John’s and for all the time she gives to ensuring our students are well prepared for their performance.
We have had many opportunities to gather as a school community this term and it has been wonderful to have our assembly’s resume. Thank you to those classes who have led an assembly this term and shared their learning with us. This term we also had our very first Indonesian Day which was a great success and enabled the students to work with students from different year levels and celebrate and learn about the Indonesian culture. We were spoilt with having Indonesian dances and a drummer perform and provide workshops for us on the day. Thanks to Bu Donna for coordinating this day for us.
On Thursday we will have our second Colour Fun Run Day thank you for your support of this event and fundraiser for our school. The funds are going towards upgrading the side area on Carmichael Street to enable students to use this area as an additional play space. This year our students will also be treated to a sausage sizzle at the conclusion of the colour fun run. We are very grateful to Steake Shop on Beach Road for providing sausages for our students and Woolworths for a donation which will supply the bread and sauce. Thank you to Fiona Partington for coordinating this event alongside Lisa Martin and for our parents for generously giving their time to cook for us and support this event.
I will be on long service leave for week 10 this term. Simone Mashford will be Acting Principal whilst I am away. Our school is in great hands with Simone and I am grateful to Simone for taking on this role whilst I am away. As we near the end of the term I would like to wish everyone a wonderful term break and I look forward to seeing everyone in term 4 when we resume on Monday 16th October.
Warm regards,
Leanne Johansen
